Legal Requirements to be Fulfilled Before November 2018 in Costa Rica
Don’t forget to update your information at the Tax Institute!
When Corporation Tax was created back in 2012, it was collected by the National Registry (Registro Nacional). In September 2017, the Tax Institute (Hacienda or Tributación) decided to take control of the situation.
The only information shown in their system is: name and Id number of the company. All owners of a corporation is now required to update their details, by providing legal representative information, plus the fiscal address, presenting the D140 form.
If you already have a taxpayer number provided by the Tax Institute, you may do it online through “Administración Tributaria Virtual“ (ATV), available on www.hacienda.go.cr. Otherwise you will have to personally present the necessary form in Limon with your NISE number (on your electricity bill), copy of your ID and a personeria juridica (with your correct ID number on it).
